INTRODUCTION

Decades ago, environmentalists saw the need for the proper management of waste. They have noticed that the environment is slowly and systematically being destroyed by the improper disposal of waste. This can be attributed to technological progress, which slowly corrodes the atmosphere, vegetation and water, the main sources of existence. If this trend remains unabated, the air we breathe, the food we eat and the water we drink will no longer be safe for intake because they will already be contaminated and polluted with the by-products of matters which man has created to improve his lot. Due to this mounting problem, environmentalists throughout the world called for a rational approach to waste disposal.
In response to this urgent call for a responsible management of waste, INTEGRATED WASTE MANAGEMENT, INC. was conceptualized and organized with the specific purpose of offering a service that is environmentally, socially and economically acceptable.

BACKGROUND

Integrated Waste Management, Inc. is a 100% Filipino-owned and controlled Corporation organized under the LINA GROUP OF COMPANIES.

IWMI was incorporated in December 1988 and began its commercial operation a year after with the primary objective of giving “Waste Management Service”, at the same time act as a catalyst for innovative methods that will make the environment safe and conducively healthy for existence.

FOREIGN RECOGNITION

In April 1999, IWMI has gained an international recognition for being the first Waste Management Company in Asia to have its “Quality Management System” certified to ISO 9002:1994. Presently, IWMI’s “Quality Management System” is certified to ISO 9001:2000.

In February 2002, IWMI has gained another international recognition for having its “Environmental Management System” certified to ISO 14001:1996.

IWMI is an international member of Air and Waste Management Association, a waste management association based in the US.

IWMI is also a member of the following local Associations:

• Air and Waste Management Association – Philippine Section
• Pollution Control Association of the Philippines, Inc.
• Semiconductor and Electronics Industries in the Philippines, Inc.

            

THE COMPANY’S PHILOSOPHY

IWMI believes that no task is formidable. IWMI welcomes the task and is willing to pioneer in any endeavor that concerns the environment even if it is marginally feasible economically. The COMPANY BELIEVES that LIFE CANNOT be MEASURED QUANTITATIVELY and QUALITATIVELY, rather LIFE must be NOURISHED and CHERISHED.

In summary, the company believes in the phrase "We did not inherit the earth from our parents, but we only borrowed it for our children", therefore we have no right to cause its destruction wittingly or unwittingly.

b. To lend assistance to the government in the implementation of laws and regulations concerning the environment.

Integrated Waste Management, Inc., is an environmental service company that operates with the objective of providing quality waste management services and products to fully satisfy customers, therefore, our company is committed to:

• Sustain company’s growth by maintaining a quality management system that comply with and abide by relevant laws and regulations; continuously improve its effective implementation through research, education and implementation of newly accepted technology in the industry.
• Develop, motivate and involve all employees by providing them with the necessary training, tools, facilities, equipment and good working condition.

Environmental Policy

INTEGRATED WASTE MANAGEMENT, INC., is a service company that provides environmentally-safe and legally accepted waste management services and products to its customers. Our Company is committed to:

    - Continuously improve, implement and maintain an effective environmental management system and prevention of pollution.

    - Comply with environmental lawsm regulations and other requirements applicable to its
operations and corresponding environmental aspects.

    - Promote environmental awareness and good practices to all employees and all working for and in behalf of IWMI.

    - The policy covers the provision of Portable Toilet Rental and Sanitation Services and the Collection and Recycling of Mould Runners and Expired Moulding Compounds.

IWMI MILESTONE

IWMI has reached a milestone in its quest to develop the non-construction market for its Portalets. It is easy to catch sight of Portalets in traditional special events like outdoor concerts, prayer meetings, athletic meets, birthdays and garden weddings, military exercises, disaster areas and many others. But providing Portalets for the cyclists that participated in Padyak Pinoy is something for the books, what with the military-like precision in making them available at the start and finish line of each lap. Portalet really lives up to its reputation as a dependable environmental partner even in the harshest condition.
